At Aston Marina, we are deeply committed to ensuring that all of our guests, regardless of their physical abilities or individual needs, have an exceptional experience. Our dedication to accessibility and inclusion extends to every part of our multiple award-winning restaurant, wedding & events venue and inland marina. We are proud to offer a site that is fully accessible and accommodating, allowing all of our customers to enjoy their time with us comfortably and safely.

Physical accessibility and ease of movement

Aston Marina is designed with mobility issues and disabilities in mind. This ensures that all our venues, including the marina and event spaces, are accessible to those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. Key design features for our facilities include:

  • Oversized car park spaces, especially in our Blue Badge (BH) parking areas, allowing for ease of access.
  • Disabled parking spaces in all areas, conveniently located near our entrances.
  • Oversized doors in all venues, providing extra room for easy entry and exit.
  • No steps throughout the premises and small ramps for smooth transitions between areas.
  • Currently replacing our marina jetty walkways with a state of the art none-slip recycled composite material to ensure a safe surface year-round

 

We work hard to ensure that every corner of Aston Marina is accessible to all our customers, going above and beyond standard accessibility expectations.

 

Customer-friendly features

To enhance the experience of every guest, we have implemented several customer-friendly features that prioritise accessibility and ease of use, including:

  • Large printed menus to accommodate customers with visual impairments.
  • Accessible facilities across all venues, from dining areas to event spaces, ensuring that every guest, regardless of ability, can fully participate and enjoy their time with us.
  • Space – our restaurant tables and seating areas are generously spaced for excellent access
  • Private dining areas originally introduced during the covid-19 pandemic but remain popular for those who require a little more privacy during their visit

 

These features are part of our commitment to accessibility, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and accommodated during their visit.

Inclusive employment practices

At Aston Marina, inclusion goes beyond customer service – it is embedded in our employment practices. We are proud to work closely with charities such as Mencap, offering employment opportunities to adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. By fostering a supportive workplace, we contribute to a more inclusive community and help individuals develop valuable skills in a welcoming environment.

We also partner with the Alzheimer’s Association to provide our staff with specialised training in serving customers with dementia. This ensures that our team is knowledgeable, sensitive, and able to cater to the unique needs of customers living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, making every visit a positive and supportive experience.
