Wedding catering options at The Boat House
When it comes to wedding catering options, couples are no longer tied to the traditional sit-down wedding breakfast or fork buffet – depending on the style and theme of their big day, there’s literally a world of choice when it comes to ensuring guests are well fed and watered.
The Boat House at Aston Marina offers a truly diverse range of wedding catering packages; with all dishes crafted by the kitchen team behind the venue’s award-winning restaurant, No.26. Combining the best seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients with a reputation for creating food that bursts with flavour, the quality of the food element is often cited as a key reason why couples choose The Boat House as their wedding venue.
Canapés on arrival
It can seem like a long time between arrival at a wedding and sitting down to dine after the ceremony, especially if guests are travelling from a church or registry office. For this reason many couples getting married at the venue opt to serve guests a drink and canapés after the ceremony or when they arrive for the reception – especially welcome as the couple of the moment have their photographs taken.
An arrival drink is included in each of our drinks packages, which offer options for all budgets, and when it comes to canapés flavours range from the traditional to the exotic – with smoked salmon, cream cheese & dill blinis, mini Yorkshire pudding, shredded beef & horseradish sauce, crispy duck wontons with spring onion & hoisin and grilled Halloumi & Mediterranean vegetable skewers just a few mouth-watering examples.
Traditional wedding breakfasts
Still by far the most popular choice with couples getting married at The Boat House is a traditional, sit-down wedding breakfast to share with guests. Our set wedding catering packages offer options to suit all budgets each offering three courses plus tea and coffee with a wide selection of different dishes within each course – all with silver service to your table. For something a little different, our Ruby Menu is served family-style at the table om sharing platters with guests able to select from fish and meat platters for both starter and main course. Cheese boards can be added to each of the menus as an option and special dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.
Younger guests, meanwhile, can enjoy either half portions of the adult menu, or couples can choose to serve one of three different child-friendly starters, mains and desserts alongside the adult menu to ensure even the fussiest eaters remain happy on the big day.
Informal wedding catering options
For couples looking for an alternative to the traditional wedding breakfast, The Boat House kitchen team have come up with two very different options. The Barbeque Grill package sees succulent, locally-reared meats (and a veggie burger option) served alongside a selection of delicious freshly prepared salads with a choice of desserts to follow.
Meanwhile, for couples who want to remain traditional in theme but don’t want a formal sit-down meal the wedding Afternoon Tea option could be perfect – guests would enjoy a quintessentially English afternoon tea of classic sandwiches and savouries followed by a selection of delicious scones and cakes accompanied by a choice of tea or coffee.
Wedding party catering options
For evening wedding celebrations, The Boat House offers a range of wedding party buffets to suit every theme and taste. These include a Roast Meat Rolls buffet with roast lamb, beef, pork and turkey served alongside a range of salads; an Oriental buffet packed with Asian flavours; a Pizza buffet featuring individual ciabatta pizzas with potato wedges, mixed salad and coleslaw or – for the ultimate in classic British cuisine – a Chip Shop buffet serving traditional fish n chips!
Other options to keep your evening wedding party guests well fed include an evening barbeque and a traditional Hog Roast with all the trimmings.
