A Tasty Double

We're celebrating a double triumph in the Guild of Fine Food’s 2013 Great Taste Awards after two of our most popular offerings were awarded gold stars in the nation’s most trusted and recognised food and drink awards scheme.

Our 'Chef's Homemade Steak & Cut Throat Ale Pie’ was successful in the Signature Dish category. This class is open to any deli, farm shop or food hall chef across the UK and each dish must be made and sold on the premises. The pie - well known to customers at our waterside bistro and farm shop - features steak from cattle reared just 1.5 miles away, while the ale is brewed in nearby Leek, Staffordshire.

The second gold star has been awarded to the 'Chef's Homemade Triple Chocolate Brownie’ in the Cakes & Pastries category. Again available to enjoy in the bistro or to take home from the farm shop, this indulgent dessert features a dark chocolate brownie with large milk and white chocolate chunks.

"We pride ourselves on delicious, fresh, local produce – so it is fantastic to see two of these homemade dishes endorsed by the prestigious Guild of Fine Food.  Entries go through a rigorous and independent blind judging process. It’s not about smart packaging or clever marketing – it’s all about taste.
"This recognition is a reward for the hard work our team of chefs and butchers put in to source the finest local produce and create these mouthwatering new dishes. We look forward to welcoming customers to try these award-winners for themselves!"

Great Taste is the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme involving over 400 judges and thousands of hours of blind tasting. As a result of the gold star achievements, Aston Marina will be able to display the widely recognised Great Taste Awards 2013 logo on site and on packaging as an endorsement of the quality of its products.
